Underfloor Heating Pipe Layout Brighton

Setting Up Your Underfloor Heating Pipe Layout

Depending on the design, most underfloor heating pipes are laid at 200mm. The limit for heat output of any underfloor heating system is 70 W/m2 for timbre suspended floors and 100 W/m2 for concrete floors. If an underfloor heating system is to function effectively, the building must be constructed according to the latest building regulations. No room must use more than the stated output capacity. At Clifton Hill & Montpelier Underfloor Heating Brighton and Hove, working along accepted regulations is a priority for our engineers. Compliance not only guarantees customer safety, but provides maximum efficiency and cost reduction.

Underfloor heating in a single area (2 Loops in a room)

When installing an underfloor heating panel into a single room, we lay it out in 2 equal loops. This means when you switch on the underfloor heating, the 2 loops warm up synchronously. The loops do not need to be exactly equal in length. We simply lay the first loop in one half of the room, and the second loop in the other half of the room. Finally, we lay 3 or 4 runs of fixing rail based on the length of the room. We clip it every 1m or 1.5m.

Single area (1 loop in a room)

This pipe layout is similar to the first, but instead of 2 loops in the room, it requires 1 loop. We lay the fixing rail so there are 3 or 4 runs depending on the room length. Our engineers lay the fixing rail about 500mm off the wall where the pipework enters the room and 300mm on the opposite end.

The rails are fit into place with insulation clips. We then lay the underfloor heating pipe into the fixing rail and use the clips to hold the pipe between the rails and at the ends.

Underfloor heating in 2 rooms

Whenever we install underfloor heating in 2 rooms (about 20 Sqm each), our installers lay 1 loop (max length 120m) in each room. The temperature in the rooms will be regulated by 2 thermostats and actuators- that is 1 thermostat per room. As in the single area, 3 or 4 runs of fixing rail are laid according to the room length. Then each run is clipped every 1m – 1.5m. When fitting underfloor heating on the ground floor, we place the manifold in a central position to prevent running the pipe-works through rooms that don’t need the heating. The temperature of each room on the ground floor will be regulated with a thermostat, while smaller rooms can be regulated with another room. For instance, the kitchen and utility, the hallway and dining room.
